Welcome Gonzo’s Treasure Map from Evolution

Welcome Gonzo’s Treasure Map from Evolution

has gone all out with this title, clearly intending to recreate's Gonzo superstar status with a dealer audience. Will they be successful? Check out our review of Gonzo's and find out.

How Does Gonzo's Treasure Map Work?

This live game features a 70-square wall designed to look like an old map. It's set in a studio custom-built for this title, giving us a glimpse into the ancient Incan world. The goal of Gonzo's Treasure Map is to predict where gold and multiplier blocks will land.

At the beginning of the round, you place coins on the map-styled wall in the centre of the screen. Each square is a single betting spot, and there's no way for one wager to cover several places. You have until the timer runs out to place all your bets.

The map dissolves before our eyes, revealing three lucky Gonzo keys on the wall. The top of the playing area then starts moving, causing five randomly selected blocks to drop. Each block can be a gold block worth 10x or a multiplier block worth 20x. Winning these cash prizes requires the corresponding block to land on a position you bet on.

Gonzo's Treasure Map Features

If a stone you bet on has a Gonzo key and a gold or multiplier block lands on it, you activate the Bonus feature. Additionally, the multiplier blocks double all multiplier values in the bonus feature.

Gonzo rotates the wall using the revealed key, showing a new grid containing 70 stones with multipliers. These multipliers range from 25x to 500x, along with a x2 Double tile. A single ruby block moves down, eventually stopping in a random column. It then drops on one of the stones in the column, selecting your cash prize.

If the ruby block stops on the Double tile, it doubles all multipliers on the grid. The Bonus feature is then played again. You can land on the Double tile multiple times, allowing you to increase rewards up to the $500,000 win limit.

Is Gonzo's Treasure Map Worth Playing?

Clearly taking the feedback from Gonzo's Treasure Hunt into account, Evolution set out to simplify its sequel. The gameplay is similar, with both titles using walls and requiring players to pick specific positions. However, Gonzo's Treasure Map does away with having to bet on specific stones and places to win. Instead, if you get the right spot, you receive a cash prize.

The Bonus feature fires frequently, meaning there's always a chance to score increased payouts. However, you shouldn't expect to always benefit from it. Only three keys appear every round, and there are 70 places they could land.

If you found the original Gonzo's Treasure Hunt a bit too much, this title may be more up your alley. Evolution hits bullseye once again with an entertaining game that looks gorgeous to boot. If you're looking for a new game show to , we cannot recommend Gonzo's Treasure Map enough.
